Cherry Blossom
I love cherry blossoms, they signify springtime to me. Every year around the first week of March the tree’s in the neighborhood start to bloom with beautiful pink blossoms, it’s simply gorgeous! When I saw the cherry blossom stamp from stampendous on frugalities, I knew I would love using it.
Today I received my packages from both frugalities and eclectic paperie….it was a good mail day! And when I opened the prima flowers, in person the colors matched even better to rose red, old olive and regal rose then I expected. So with the new stamp and prima flowers in mind and the inspiration of the blooming tree’s of spring, I made this card.
And this is how I made it:
1. Starting with a piece of chocolate chip at 5 1/2 x 4 1/2.
2. Next I took a piece of Au Chocolate DP and cut it at 2 1/2 x 3 3/4. It was the same piece of paper but it’s double sided so I flipped one piece to give some contrast. I then glued them onto the base.
3. For the image I cut a piece of white CS at 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 and then stamped the cherry blossom in chocolate chip. I then colored the blossom in with my marvelous markers in old olive, rose red and regal rose.
4. Then I collected flowers from the prima jar and found the sizes I wanted and placed them onto the image with a little glue.
5. Using a sponge and old olive ink I went around the edge for shading. Then I went over the olive with rose red ink.
6. I placed the image onto a piece of old olive cardstock and trimmed neatly around the edge to give a small layer.
7. Next I placed those two layers onto a piece of rose red CS and trimmed again.
8. With a piece of white ribbon and chocolate ribbon I adhered them to the front of the card.
9. Finally I placed the layerd image onto the cardfront with stampin dimensionals.
I really like how the prima flowers matched so well with the SU inks. And Im also happy that the image I had in mind when purchasing these items came through when I made the card.
It was a good night in the craft room!

Gorgeous card! Love those Prima’s
Just beautiful!
Love the idea of putting primas over the floral stamped images. Cherry blossoms are a favorite of mine too. Fond memories of the cherry blossoms in April walking from the Capitol Mall to Jefferson Memorial in Wash. DC. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful card, and for giving us another bingo number.
This is so fantastic. Love the rich chocolate brown with the vibrant pink & green. I’ll be looking for a branch like that now. Thanks for the extra bingo number
