Soldering glass, resin and a burnt knuckle
Tonight my resin was set from yesterday. I had mixed pearl ex powder into the resin liquid and then poured it directly into a pendant that I had bought. Here is a picture of the finished resin:
But tonight I worked on some glass soldering! I had bought a piece of designer paper from eclectic paperie, called winnies walls from winnies blooms, or it may be the other way around. At any rate here is the link for the paper. I had scanned the paper and then printed it out in a 1 inch square, as the glass I have is 1 inch.
I also made a piece with pin-up art from Gil Elvgren. I love pin-up art, and I always flip flop between who is my favorite, Elvgren or Vargas. Either way, I chose a simple woman to make a pendant out of.
Here are the two pendants:
I have only had a chance to do a few pieces, but it’s something that is getting better with every try! And that is so exciting! I love soldering glass, this is such a fun project and Im glad that it’s going the way I had hoped.
Although, it isnt without a certain ammount of danger. I touched the tip of the soldering iron to my knuckle, it was a white hot second and at first I didnt feel anything. And doesnt the worst accidents never register at first? Within a few seconds the little blister started to form, so I decided what better to do than take a picture!
It’s now been about an hour and it’s much more red and painful. All I could think when after it happened was that I was glad it didnt hit my eye! Yowza~
I hope you enjoyed a peek into my non-stampy crafts. Tomorrow I need to send out the last swap Im due for and then create something new!
