Getting ready for Thanksgiving

October 3rd, 2007

Yeah it’s a bit early for thinking about that to some, but not for me! :) I’ve known I wanted to use my ‘Thoroughly Thankful’ set for my Thanksgiving cards, but wasnt sure of the layout. After using it in a Beate weekend challenge a few weeks ago I really loved the watercoloring of the large image, and I took Beate’s advice and flipped it into a 4.5 x 4.5 card.

I really, really, really, really, REALLY love soft sky. And I feel like Im gonna need to stock up on it big time! It’s just the most lovely soft color of blue and lends itself to other color families so easily.

Thanksgiving-sketch

1. Starting with a piece of soft sky CS cut to 4.5 then folded so it’s squared, I then stamped the leaf and dot image in wild wasabi onto the cardfront.
2. Next I stamped the large image in stazon brown onto shimmery white CS and colored it in with my aqua painter and classic inks; pumpkin pie, summer sun, more mustard, chocolate chip, ruby red and really rust. Then I painted the white portions around each image with soft sky because all of the white looks a little stark to me.
3. Then cut around the image and layered it onto a piece of wild wasabi and cut out around that. Then I distressed the edges.
4. Finally I layered that onto a piece of pumpkin pie CS, cut out around that and distressed it again. And finally adhered the layers to the card with dimensionals.

I realized after I uploaded this that I had a mysterious spot on my camera lense, so just a reminder to check your lenses before you snap your photo!

And be sure to enter my giveaway!
