A challenge and a sketch

June 22nd, 2008

I’ve got 2 cards to share before I hop on the couch and watch 7th heaven!

This first card is for Jen’s sketch for you to try, usuing my unloved wendy papillion fairy and my beloved cosmo cricket “Honey Pie” paper from Jacksonbelle. I would link, but I believe she is out right now.

The next card is made for the Unity Stamp inspiration piece, this week we were to use the banner which has teal, caramel, circles and a flourish. At first I thought I would go with the colors, but I just wasn’t inspired. So then I found the circle and frame from my MM Audrey line and it just went together.

I used two kits on this, beautiful life and flirty flowers. Lots of distress inks and then my embellies from the Audrey noteworthy line from MM.

The weekend flew by waaaaaay tooo quickly. I have something that isn’t quite a card to show you tomorrow. It’s the result of some playing I did. See you tomorrow!

A veggie hello~

May 18th, 2008

I finally got to play with Jen’s sketch for you to try today, and I decided to use another Bella, veggie bella. She hadn’t seen ink before today and she is just so much fun! Actually this sketch is a lot of fun, a lot of possibilities!

veggie-hello

I had extra time today so I decided to sew my layers onto the wasabi, I really should do it more often! The sentiment is from my Inkadinkado set, Chelsea Sentiments. It’s a great set with fantastic fonts and useable phrases.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and had some time to play, either inside or out. We had high 80’s weather, but thankfully it’s cooling off! I am in the minority of hating Summer. I like sunshine but hate super hot weather, good thing I live in Washington!

So much to do and finally some time to do it all!

April 28th, 2008

I have had an exhausting and looooooooooooong craft day! This is week 2 of Sean’s vacation and we are each taking a couple days to get things done for ourselves. Today I worked on finishing my ATC’s for the MFT swap. And then after that I got to working on some samples from the latest releases from Treehouse Stamps

The first one is from the new set called My Hero:

Hero

The layout started as Jen’s SFYTT, but somewhere along the way I swapped the paper placement and now it’s just inspired by her sketch, lol. I really tried to give the dudes some tan, sun kissed skin. Since I’m so pale you can practically see through me I had a hard time adding tan tones and worried it just looked like they had a weird skin condition. I hope they dont look sick, just tan, lol!

The next two samples are using the Elegant Sentiments :

peace-and-hope

happiness-touch-your-life

I have so much more to show, I was on a crafting ROLL today I tell you! Tomorrow I have to take Audrey to her speech and OT and then it’s a relaxing day at home. We just got the new Mario Kart for the Wii and it’s soooooooooooo fun! Ava really loves to play it and surprisingly she’s not too shabby!

Happy Monday everyone!

Funky framed Susans

December 16th, 2007

That reminds me of that song, “Funky cold Medina” by Tone Loc…….

Anyway, I made a card for Jen’s sketch for you to try. She used a Gina K stamp on her example and it inspired me to pull out one of my favorites, my pot of black eyed susans! And I had an idea to use one of the frames from her ‘festive labels’ set. I wanted to make it look like a picture frame, a kind of funky frame. Then I stamped the single black eyed susan onto a tiny oval and matted it on a larger scalloped frame, I really like them. I couldnt fit all 3 onto the card so I have an extra. Im gonna see if I can work it onto a pendant because I would LOVE to wear it!

Black-eyed-susans

I decided to use this single word sentiment from My favorite things ‘boho blossoms’ because it fit in the space and I liked the font with the card. Then I colored the 3 antique gold brads a bit with a brown copic to dirty them up a bit.

Tomorrow I should have some soldering done to show you. But first tomorrow ALL my Christmas cards and gifts for out of state are going out in the mail. WOOOOOOHOOOO!!!! It’s 90% DONE!!! I hope your almost done too!

The DEETS:

Stamps: Black eyed susans, festive labels-Gina K   sentiment from ‘boho blossoms’-My favorite things
Ink: Graphite brilliance black, chocolate chip-SU
CS: creamy caramel, chocolate chip-SU  white-Papertrey
Accessories: nesties, copics, dimensionals, sponge, satin ribbon, antique gold brads

Wish you were here

December 8th, 2007

Here is my card for this weeks SFYTT over at Jen’s “I heart 2 stamp”. Last weeks was a little much for me with the tilted panel. My mind doesnt work that way, I just couldnt get one that I felt was picture worthy. But this week’s gave me instant inspiration, my sweet little chocolate set from MFT! And I also used the ‘essential sentiments’ for the “wish you were here”, I thought they went together nicely.

And here it is, with the new “ginger blossom” DSP from the Spring/Summer catalog from Stampin Up. I got my order on Thursday and have yet to mount the new stamps. But I have been very busy with presents being made, getting a new minivan and being sick. I’ll show you what I’ve been up to in a minute.

Wish-you-were-here

I really, really like this new DSP. The colors are great and I tried to match the recliner and her dress to the colors of the paper. Having all those copics really makes it quite easy.

A quick little list of the details and then I’ll show you part of what I’ve been doing today!

The DEETS:

Stamps: How sweet it is, essential sentiments-MFT
Ink: graphite brilliance black
CS: ruby red, river rock, ginger blossom DSP- SU  white-Papertrey
Accessories: ribbon from SU, dimensionals, copics

Splotchy little sketch

December 2nd, 2007

So this is my 3rd….yes you read that right, 3rd attempt at Jen’s SFYTT. And Im DONE! LOL!!! Im shaking my fists in the air and cursing my stamps right now. I used some little stamps I bought at EP and I hadnt inked them up before tonight. They take ink funny, at least that super splotchy ‘hello’!

splotchy-sktch

All the stamps in this set are sooo tiny. I bought it for that owl, I couldnt resist him when I saw him. He called to me, in that cute little Owlie voice…..”buy me, stamp with me”. Anyway, little owl is cute but tiny. Beware if you are lured by him or the other stamps in this line.

Ok, time to get dinner started and then make a few more Christmas gifts. I need to have them ready for mailing in about 2 weeks. YIKES!

Have a good night everybody!

Time for a change of pace

November 17th, 2007

Here’s a card that’s comletely opposite of my last card, soft vintage and beautiful! I decided to finally try one of Jen’s “sketch for you to try”, she holds them every Friday but I’ve not done one before. I looked at her site today and saw the sketch, then a wonderful package came in the mail with a new “bird notes” stamp set! How fun!

I’ll post the instructions after the picture, as it was nice and simple and I think makes a great card for mass producing. Sean and I are going to see Kathy Griffin tonight, Im very excited! I love her stand up and watching her “My life on the D-list” on Bravo, she really makes me laugh! My Mom is coming over to babysit the girls, so we are going to stop and have a quick bite then go see the show. She’s playing at the Paramount tonight, for any of you Seattle gal’s who know the city.

Bird-Note

Instructions:

1) I started with a piece of chocolate chip CS cut and folded to standard size.
2) Next I cut soft sky CS to 4 1/4x 5 1/4 and stamped the feather image onto it with soft sky ink, the birdy feet in chocolate chip, then used my ticket corner punch on the four corners.
3) Then I stamped the bird and crown in stazon brown onto Papertrey white CS and used my oval nesties to cut it out.
4) I then cut out a coordinating size in chocolate chip with another nesty.
5) Then I watercolored the bird with creamy caramel and heavily diluted chocolate chip ink, and made a ground out of the same combination.
6) I also used a white signo gel pen to highlight some feathers, a glaze pen for sparkle on the crown and sponged the edges in chocolate chip ink.
7) This was then adhered to the chocolate chip oval.
8) Next I wrapped some chocolate satin ribbon around the sky layer then adhered the oval bird to the right of the card.
9) I made a seperate bow with the ribbon and adhered it to the left of the bird with glue dots.
10) This was all adhered to the chocolate chip base with dimensionals.
11) Finally I adhered 4 cream halfback pearls to the four corners.
