I’m in your deep shag…..
Anyone remember that song by Luscious Jackson? I keep singing it whenever I see my new Sassafras lass papers. I just LOVE them, they are so fun, cute and funky. And I want to make everything with them feel kind of retro 70’s!
This week’s MFT sketch is the big number 40~ can you believe it’s been 40 weeks of fun sketches? I can’t, man this year just flies by! I have been on a watercolor kick this weekend and decided to continue it with this card:
I have to say that I live vicariously through my MFT girls! I always give them furniture, outfits, accessories that I want, lol. Sean wouldn’t be down with a chair like this……but I SO WOULD! And I also love her outfit, I promise if I find it I’m going to take a picture of myself just like this.
Alright, this week should have lots of updates regularly. I have 3 colored images ready to go! We got to spend Saturday night at our friends wedding which was lovely. It’s Sean’s best friends sister, so that family is pretty much Sean’s family which makes them my family. Got that? lol….. Anyway, it was a great night and once again I fell prey to the salty water emotion during the ceremony. Even if I don’t know the couple I ALWAYS cry at weddings, I am a super duper sap! Oh…….except I did NOT cry at my wedding! I was too excited and SMILING~
I also finally got to give that MFT wedding tag book I made for the gift, I put it inside a custom box wrapped with ribbons and a Sarah K card. Which I did NOT take pictures of…..ugh.
Off to watch the Simpsons movie, more fun tomorrow!

Where have I been, why I’m slackin’
So quickly to bring everyone up to speed……my week has been insane. Tuesday was spent in a car with my 4 year old running errands, then alone with the two kids the rest of the night. But 8pm I was exhausted and couldn’t think so I fell asleep on the couch. Yesterday, I was at the copic class all day and while it was fun it was also exhausting. After 7 hours of coloring I had ZERO desire to color or craft.
So now that leaves me with tonight and feeling oh so guilty about not having stamped much this week. So I decided to play in the MFT sketch challenge:
Pretty straightforward, stamps, ink, blah blah blah. Yes I’m tired again, thank goodness tomorrow is Friday!
I am HOPING I will have something else tomorrow and for sure this weekend. I have a 6 person swap to prepare for Saturday that I need to give some thought to.
Off to veg my brain!

Blogger’s challenge Friday…….Get out your sunglasses
Because the future is BRIGHT!!!!! And so is this card;
The challenge this week is a color combo; pink, turquoise and GREEN GALORE!!!!!! I have been stressing about this color combo ALL WEEK! This is just so not my normal style and I don’t think it ever will be. I had to go to the SU website and look at the color before I could pick it out of my bright CS pack. I don’t have the ink, the marker….nothing just a few sheets that I had thought about recycling.
This card also fits into the MFT sketch challenge for this week. And speaking of My favorite things…………..
A girl remembers all her firsts: your first kiss, your first best friend, and the first time you talk to one of your stamping idols. I had the EXTREME pleasure of talking to Kim, THE Kim from MFT….she called me, on my phone, AT MY HOUSE!!! And it didn’t matter what she had asked of me I would have done it. Fortunately she asked me to do something legal and something that I wanted to do, she asked me to be on her new special assignment design team! Seriously, there are only a few people that Sean remembers who I’m talking about just by their first name and he knows who Kim is, there is only 1 Kim in our vocabulary.
Now I kind of think of this like CSI and all the other CSI shows: same premise, new actors, new location with some familiar faces showing up. You can find the links to the blogs and galleries of the other talented ladies on Kim’s blog and I will be linking them here soon.
So I hope you will enjoy the ride with me as I create some new projects for Kim and MFT. And thanks for letting me share my excitement and tooting my horn a little about all my good news this week.

Jacksonbelle Tuesday…..orange, brown & green
This weeks challenge did me in, I saw the word ORANGE and GREEN and panicked. Then there was a lot of talk about green galore and adding some less than stellar colors to the mix and my mind couldn’t get off the idea of BRIGHT. So when I set out to make my first card I was trying to do the orange very subtely.
There is a panel of mellow moss behind the bird cage and my orange is the collage primas. This is such a QUICK card, that stamp is just perfect for quick and beautiful cards. I LOVE it! And the collage primas are just too cool. I used the Hampton Crate Paper collection for this one and the Chelsea Sentiments set from Inkadinkado as well.
But when I made this card I felt like it was REALLY cheating so I thought I would make another one. But this one is kind of a cheat too, so I don’t know if I redeemed myself with this one:
See? His shirt is BRIGHT orange, lots of GREEN grass! And you can’t miss all that brown! Again I used the Hampton paper collection from Crate Paper.
Both of these cards are going in a gift set for my trainer. I want to give her a good variety of cards and I know she likes big dogs, so I thought of her when I saw this set. I will show you the gift box and cards tomorrow.
And now you can check out the fabulous creations from the other DT members who have made great samples with these colors!

Prima afternoon tea
I had ordered some new Prima flowers and paper kits from Jacksonbelle on Sunday and I got them in the mail today, hooray! The paper kits are so cool because they come with matching ribbon and flowers! I ripped open my two packs and spread them all out and then had to go play! I decided to pair it with the MFT sketch challenge for this week:
I went to afternoon tea on Sunday with my mom and this card reminds me of a tea room, all vintage and distressed.

Spa day
Not for me, the piggies!
I made this card on Monday for the MFT sketch challenge. I had been coloring all day finishing my ATC swap (which I will share soon!) and my hand was seriously cramping from holding onto my copics for hours. I decided to watercolor my piggies and give my hand a rest.
I LOVE pigs, they are one of my favorite animals. People find out I like pigs and then always get me pig stuff, so I can end up with an embarassing ammount of pink piggies. When Sean and I were first married, (not like were old married people now, lol!) we had two next door neighbors who were also pig collectors. Their dogs and our dog were playmates and would play and go potty with eachother everyday. It was a couple months before we realized we all collected pigs. Although the other 2 gals were single and had their pigs displayed everywhere. Sean has been more reserved in the girly love for swine.
Well, I will be back soon with those ATC’s I’ve been talking about. I know I wont be doing anything like this again for an ATC swap!

Today I got some extra “me” time since Sean is on a mini vacation this week. So after the gym and my PT appointment I browsed a couple stamp stores and then headed home to create. I wanted to catch up on a couple of the MFT sketch challenges that I hadn’t gotten to and I also wanted to do some watercoloring. I realized that I had never watercolored my MFT stamps before. I had always used copics and paper piecing to color them so I wanted to give it a try. I REALLY like painting them, they are soooo much fun! I’m guessing you will be seeing some more watercolored images again soon!
I really like the look of this with it’s rich colors. I used the boxer paper by basic grey as my starting point. I also wanted to give her a copper bathtub to soak in. I always love the look of a copper bathtub but I dread the thought of cleaning them! Maybe later when I have a live in maid to clean it and keep it shiny!
This cards colors were inspired by this beautiful Honey Pie paper. I am in LOVE LOVE LOVE with it! I feel that way each time cosmo cricket comes out with a new line. I started out using soft sky ink for the sky but it looked a little aqua almost so I mixed it with a little bashful blue to get the shade I wanted.
I know I had promised the finished kangaroo necklace but it’s still getting the final details on it. I’ll have it ready tomorrow!
I hope you enjoyed my journey into MFT with watercolor, I had a blast with it!

Todays technique challenge is called tole, which gives lots of dimension! We were to stamp multiple images and layer them, 4, 3 and 2 times. I also decided to combine it with the MFT sketch challenge.
The bathtub was cut out and popped up 4 times, the bubbles were cut out and popped up 3 times, the legs are popped up twice. I turned the mirror into a frame and paper pieced the wall paper. I really love how all the colors look together, I would LOVE it if I had a bathroom like this!
I’m so excited since Sean and I went to Ikea this weekend! I found an AWESOME desk for me and a new storage unit! I am hoping to paint this weekend and install a shelf along one side of my craft room. I want it to have my sewing machine, photo box, paper trimmer and scor-pal on it, so it’s pretty long. Right now I am thinking about painting a shade similar to PTI’s aqua mist, but maybe a little creamier and lighter. All the furniture is a brown black so it’s really going to pop against the light walls!
I only have one appointment today, but this week is going to be crazy! I hope I can get my to-do list done!
The DEETS:
Stamps-Time for the bubbly-MFT
Ink: adirondack pitch black, cocoa
CS: PTI white, cocoa, bali breeze DSP, basic grey
Accessories: copics, dimensionals, spica pen, stickles, ribbon, circle punches, slit punch
Love and bliss
The sketch challenge over on the MFT site this week is a larg circle and then 2 smaller circles to the sides. And while I was busy thinking about all the scenes I could create in that large circle, one of my first and favorite MFT sets brought be back, “Boho blossoms”.
So I decided to use my new favorite color combo; sweet blush, soft sky and olive and get to work. I cut out the white and olive circles with my coluzzle and sponged soft sky onto the edges of the white. For the olive piece I used my corner rounder, paper piercer and white gel pen. I inked up the stamp on the edges with a regal rose marker, then pounced my sweet blush ink spot onto the stamp, then cut it out. I traced all the open parts of the heart with a clear spica pen for some shimmer and shine. The center flower of the heart is made with cotton candy stickles and white liquid pearls.
Once all the pieces were in place I started to dot around it with white liquid pearls. And then I decided to frame the ends with my dew drops.
And that is my card!
I have been filling up my shopping carts at CHF, Bella and High hopes with my fingers right over the purchase. Don’t know what I’m waiting for, I know I’ll like the stamps. I’m just afraid I’ll start adding even more companies to my addiction.
I’m sure you can understand how I feel. What are some of the companies that you have resisted? Or have you been able to resist them?
Happy Wednesday!
