Love and bliss

March 26th, 2008

The sketch challenge over on the MFT site this week is a larg circle and then 2 smaller circles to the sides. And while I was busy thinking about all the scenes I could create in that large circle, one of my first and favorite MFT sets brought be back, “Boho blossoms”.

So I decided to use my new favorite color combo; sweet blush, soft sky and olive and get to work. I cut out the white and olive circles with my coluzzle and sponged soft sky onto the edges of the white. For the olive piece I used my corner rounder, paper piercer and white gel pen. I inked up the stamp on the edges with a regal rose marker, then pounced my sweet blush ink spot onto the stamp, then cut it out. I traced all the open parts of the heart with a clear spica pen for some shimmer and shine. The center flower of the heart is made with cotton candy stickles and white liquid pearls.

Once all the pieces were in place I started to dot around it with white liquid pearls. And then I decided to frame the ends with my dew drops.

And that is my card!

I have been filling up my shopping carts at CHF, Bella and High hopes with my fingers right over the purchase. Don’t know what I’m waiting for, I know I’ll like the stamps. I’m just afraid I’ll start adding even more companies to my addiction.

I’m sure you can understand how I feel. What are some of the companies that you have resisted? Or have you been able to resist them?

Happy Wednesday!

A shabby swap

March 4th, 2008

I am so glad that I have this card to show you in my reserve stash. The flu/cold that my girls have has finally hit me hardcore today. Serious sore throat, stuffy nose and fever action. I haven’t gotten out of my jammies at all and I don’t care, because I am sick. Poor Ava couldn’t even eat her dinner tonight, it literally made her toss her cookies at the table. So much fun…….to be sick and have sick kids. I really wish I could “call in sick” as a mother when I am the one that’s sick!

But back to my card……………………

My favorite things had their first official swap hosted by Jen del Muro on their SCS forum. I decided to pick the “Meet me at the cafe” set for my swap cards. This card was the whole reason I had my mom lend me her sewing machine and thank goodness we got it fixed in time!

Cafe-swap

I love this card! It all makes me so happy! The sewing, the distressing, the distress ink. I even gave the gal in the dress a pearl bracelet! There was a lot of steps, more than probably should be used on a swap but I’m glad I put in all the work. Luckily, one of them will be coming back to me!

I’m off to take my medicine and veg out to my ‘Golden Girls’.

Make a bunch of quick, cute cards!

March 3rd, 2008

Todays MFT sneak peek is made with their 2nd set that is being released called “Punch a bunch”. It’s a super cute set with different frames, flowers and arched sentiments that are designed to work with your marvy punches.

For me that posed a challenge because I don’t have the marvy punches, I have the nestabilities. So I decided to see what I could use with them. And the arched sentiments work lovely with them!

A-bunch-of-flowers

There are several different flower bunches to choose from, 2 different sized stems and then frames and sentiments galore! You can easily and quickly make some super cute cards for many occasions!

Join MFT at the release party on March 5th in the SCS forums for lots of fun and a chance to become the next MFT guest designer!

Like a rhinestone cowgirl!

March 3rd, 2008

Today is the start of some MFT sneak peeks! They are releasing 2 new sets on Wednesday, March 5th; ‘Ride em cowgirl’ and ‘Punch a bunch’, there will be a release party in the SCS forumes that evening.

The card today uses the new “Ride em cowgirl” set. When I sat down to play with it I kept singing “Rhinestone cowboy” to myself. So I just HAD to make my cowgirl a little sparkly and bedazzled!

rhinestone cowgirl

The little badges on the right say “Ms. Sherrif” which I totally love! And in keeping with my new habit, I extended the word window punch for my sentiment. I really should stop with that, I know.

Be sure to check out the blogs of all the other DT members for some more great sneak peeks! Tomorrow I’ll have a couple more to share using the other new set.

Have a wonderful Monday!

Under the weather?

February 25th, 2008

It’s MFT sketch challenge time again, so here is my card for this week:

under-the-weather

This ribbon always gives me troubles. I like it and I think it’s pretty but it seems hard to use. You can’t really make a bow, it’s stretchy and thick and it just never lays right for me. It might just be me though. But I think it’s a weird ribbon. I wish SU would make this same color and style but in a thinner easier to use version.

Super short today, I’m really tired and need to go to bed!

Just a naughty little box

February 20th, 2008

So today is the 20th, which means it’s celebrate my favorite things day! I had this idea for the release earlier in the month but I just didn’t get around to finishing it, luckily I could still use it.

It’s a 2,5,7,10 box with a window so you can see the ‘dirty dice’ inside:

naughty-box

Now these dice were $1.99 at my local grocery store, Fred Meyer. They had a huge Valentine section with candy and then next to the childrens Valentine cards were these dirty dice, and fuzzy handcuffs and adult lottery tickets. I think the display person had a wicked sense of humor putting them next to eachother. Cause using these items will eventually lead to needing the cartoon valentines for your kids!

The white EP was difficult to get off the acetate, but I don’t mind because when the dice are inside you really aren’t looking at the speckles of white, your trying to read what they say!

Usually stores offer 50% off seasonal and holiday items once they are over, so if you have a Fred Meyer in your area you might be able to score these for $.99!!!

And now I am off to watch ‘Anne of Green Gables’ and then organize my stuffed animals. Because I am a wholesome gal and that’s what we do!

Treat goodies

February 6th, 2008

I thought I would share the treat wrappers I made with the new “Egg-stra special Easter” before I head off to the gym. None of these will rock your world, but they are cute all the same!

I took a screw top tin from specialtybottles.com and covered the bottom with blue CS and then colored and cut out tulips and popped them up on dimensionals around the bottom. I covered the edge of the lid in ribbon and then made a decorative top. I got that little chick in a package of 20 for $1.99 at Michaels, I love them!

jelly-beans

And then I decided to use the sour cream container instructions that Beate made for us last week. These are so quick, simple and cute. I really like these for gifting candy.

Easter-cream

And then finally I made a treat that I’m naming “Pixie Chicks”….heehee! Dixie Chicks/Pixie Chicks……I thought it was cute! I paper pieced part of the egg and used some diamond glaze on the spots.

Pixie-chicks

Don’t forget about the MFT cocktail party tonight on SCS from 9-11 Eastern. There’s sure to be lots of fun and a chance for you to be the next guest designer!

Tuesday teaser!

February 5th, 2008

Today I thought I would show you the 3rd set being released tomorrow from MFT, it’s called “Serenity now”. It’s the new mini of the month and I have never seen anything like it. My sister loves doing yoga and has considered becoming a teacher, so I know this set will come in handy.

When I went to make my cards I realized I didnt have any DP that would really work. So I scooted over to Michaels and found a nice display of world inspired papers and embellishments. Thank goodness there is a Michaels nearby!

Namaste

This is Sean’s favorite of the two. I really wanted to keep it simple since the paper has such a bold pattern. But I managed to put on a sparklie jewel, I couldn’t let the card go without some shine!

And this next one is my favorite, I just love the DP pattern and colors. And I had JUST ENOUGH ribbon to put it onto the card!

deep-breath

I extended the word window punch to fit the sentiment, super easy to do. The color in the DP matches groovy guava perfectly, it’s always nice when non SU stuff matches SU colors!

Well that’s it for now. I need to run and get ready so I can take Audrey to her speech and occupational therapy appointment. She had a lot of fun last week so I’m hoping today is another good session. She seem’s to have added the word “ball” to her vocabularly so I’m hoping that she continues to use it. When I get home we have someone from the autism center coming to talk about at home treatments, so a busy afternoon for us all.

Have a great day and I should be back later! I’ve always got something up my sleeve!

Slippery when wet

February 4th, 2008

I think I might need to come up with a new category for cards made with the upcoming ‘Twisted Sentiments’ set from MFT!

Sean came home early today since I’ve been sick all weekend so instead of laying down like a good person would, I decided to tackle the new MFT challenge!

slippery-when-wet

I decided that for the ultimate romantic bathroom there needed to be some candle light, so I used the candle from “Meet me at the cafe” and made two sconces. The rest is all ‘Time for the bubbly’ and the sentiment of course is from ‘Twisted Sentiments’.

I have a few more ideas for some of these sentiments, so hopefully I can knock them out before Wednesday. I think my stamps are gonna be in for a wild ride this week!

I have lot’s more to show, so I’ll be back tomorrow morning with something more calm and relaxing.

TEE-SER

February 4th, 2008

Tee-ser/Teaser……I’m feeling punny! I thought I would share a smidgen of something that is still getting the final touches done with another new MFT release, “Serentity Now!”. I hope you’ll think it’s worth the wait, I’m hoping to have it ready later tonight or first thing tomorrow morning!
