A super quick card

November 12th, 2007

I just HAD to make a card! It felt like forever! And this weekend has been a looong haze of pain and medication. I have an appointment tomorrow with a new hand specialist, so I am hoping that FINALLY someone will be able to help me!

I checked out Beate’s weekend sketch on Friday and didnt think I’d get to it this weekend. But I made myself get up today and do it between doses of percocet. She seems to have a thing for circles……I do not. And I would have LOVED to use my new nesties, but I dont have circles, only rectangles and ovals. Sooo, I pulled out my coluzzle.

This is a quick card, with little involved so my wrist and hand wouldnt hate me. It’s a 5.5 squared card and it’s all pretty straight forward.

I really thought I would like this set more than I do. It’s cute and all, but I dont reach for it very often. Oh well!

I ordered my new SU! spring and summer catty’s today….wooooooo hooooo! I cant WAIT for a new catty! I am so DONE with Christmas and I cant wait to see that HUGE section replaced with new stuff! Not to mention new hostess sets!

And Im impatiently tapping my fingers for my free set to ship! I have no idea what it looks like and the waiting is killing me! I want to at least see what I’m working with!

Oh, and thanks to Lauren Im placing an order with the UK site for Elzybells. I feel a lot better spending $$$ on sizes that I actually like. One’s that you can color! I cant wait to get them, they are sooo cute!

Anyway, Im here…..resting….still. I have to be up and around tomorrow for my Dr. appt so hopefully I’ll get to an SCS challenge! Hope your Monday is great!

Fluffles and a quiet weekend

November 9th, 2007

I finished this card late last night for the limited supply challenge on SCS. I had used one critter stamp, one sentiment, one background stamp, 2-4 layers and no embelishments. Im glad I got it done last night, but I’ll get to that in a moment.

fast-fluffles

I love little fluffles!

So I spent the afternoon in the emergency room after my wrist was getting worse in the last 24 hours. I had an accupuncture appt. and she told me to go get an x-ray since I was having so much pain.

Nothing is broken, but Im in a splint (basically a temporary cast) for the next 4-5 days. So needless to say my blog will be quiet since typing with my left hand is tough and I cant make anything one handed.

So if you dont hear from me over the weekend it’s because Im in bed on drugs. Take care and have fun creating! I’m already itching to get my hands on the Papertrey sets!

What a day!!!!!

November 5th, 2007

First I need to share a bit about our weekend. On Friday night I was cold in the house, which isnt uncommon. But I was standing next to one of the vents (we have forced air) and it was blowing cold air even though the thermostat was at 74. Sean didnt feel cold and said it never feels like hot air and that was that. Then on Saturday I was really cold and I had the temperature held at 75 but the thermostat was reading 71…..something was wrong. So we spent a cold Saturday night here. Oh, and our fireplace is still broken. The repair people are 6 weeks out and it’s $250 JUST for them to come. I’m thinking a NEW fireplace might be cheaper.

So yesterday the girls came home and the house was cold. At night we bundled them with extra blankets and went to sleep. This morning the temp. was 66!!!! Holy cow, it was COLD in here! So I got on the phone with our heat people and they sent a tech out fast, like within an hour. Anyway, the part that was broken was under warranty so we only had to pay for labor. For 5 minutes of him being here can you guess how much we paid? $100!

But that’s not all. While he was here I fell………again…….down the stairs……..again……..

The really AWESOME thing (and that’s completely sarcastic) is that the dude was at the bottom of the stairs, and his instinct wasnt to HELP me as I fell and try to catch me or anything but to step out of the way. NICE! I smacked right into the front door scraping my wrist and elbow, twisting my right ankle….again. My wrist was nice and swollen today with a welt, and my ankle was swollen.

But in really HAPPY news, my new MFT sets came today. Hurrah!! So I finished last weeks color challenge, last weeks MFT sketch challenge and todays technique challenge for a pocket card all in one! WOW, that’s a lot!

beach-pocket

What a fun set, and Ava really loved it! She had me stamping a scene for her to color. The hat was her favorite, I have NO idea why.

And I really need more copics. I only have 48 and I need more colors to blend and do all the fancy pants stuff with. I’ll have to add that to my list! LOL!!!

I hope your week is off to a better start than mine!

Oh dear, my back!

September 11th, 2007

Just a quick note to everyone before my muscle relaxers and pain meds kick in………I hurt my back! On Sunday the right side seized up on me keeping me from sleeping, then it spread to my whole torso.

Last night I had a massage and the girl was wonderful and really worked on my back, but unfortunately the good feeling only lasted about 20 minutes before getting sore again. Today when I went to my the gym I was walking oh so slowly and my personal trainer spent a lot of time with me stretching.

However tonight it all got to be too much and I went to the Dr. and was offered some medications to help my back. He thinks my scoliosis may have something to do with the pain, so we are getting a new spinal x-ray soon. It was nearly the worst pain every, only my wrist breaking hurt more. I was in so much pain that I was actually sick and crying……in public. Im not a ‘pretty’ crier, so that doesnt happen unless it has to!

Anyway, Im on somewhat bedrest for a couple days. Just relaxing with my many medications and trying to sleep. I will have to excuse myself from BINGO, which is sad since I’ve been having so much fun! And everything will probably be super quiet here until the weekend.

I am very blessed that nothing major was wrong, no kidney infection or broken bones (this time!) and every time we pick up a bag full of medications I am reminded of our awesome insurance yet again. Thank you microsoft! I will be back to stamping ASAP and I hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Soldering glass, resin and a burnt knuckle

August 21st, 2007

Tonight my resin was set from yesterday. I had mixed pearl ex powder into the resin liquid and then poured it directly into a pendant that I had bought. Here is a picture of the finished resin:

But tonight I worked on some glass soldering! I had bought a piece of designer paper from eclectic paperie, called winnies walls from winnies blooms, or it may be the other way around. At any rate here is the link for the paper. I had scanned the paper and then printed it out in a 1 inch square, as the glass I have is 1 inch.

I also made a piece with pin-up art from Gil Elvgren. I love pin-up art, and I always flip flop between who is my favorite, Elvgren or Vargas. Either way, I chose a simple woman to make a pendant out of.

Here are the two pendants:

I have only had a chance to do a few pieces, but it’s something that is getting better with every try! And that is so exciting! I love soldering glass, this is such a fun project and Im glad that it’s going the way I had hoped.

Although, it isnt without a certain ammount of danger. I touched the tip of the soldering iron to my knuckle, it was a white hot second and at first I didnt feel anything. And doesnt the worst accidents never register at first? Within a few seconds the little blister started to form, so I decided what better to do than take a picture!

Burnt knuckle from soldering iron........lucky

It’s now been about an hour and it’s much more red and painful. All I could think when after it happened was that I was glad it didnt hit my eye! Yowza~

I hope you enjoyed a peek into my non-stampy crafts. Tomorrow I need to send out the last swap Im due for and then create something new!
