Brainwave Wednesday- Frederick the frog

May 21st, 2008

This week’s brainwave challenge is a color challenge:

apples.jpg

Pretty colors, aren’t they! And seeing them as apples made me think of my Summer Picnic DSP and I went from there. I decided to use my “So Hoppy” set:

Frederick-the-frog

If you notice the time stamp on this post it’s at 1:47 am…..so I am cutting out short! It’s been a looooooooooooong day and I’m looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow morning! I’ll be back for more chit chat and more pretties later.

If you create anything with these colors then please link it here so I can see it! And be sure to check out the other DT memebers blogs for their take on the challenge.

Kenny the koala

May 18th, 2008

What a busy weekend! I have so much to show and have gotten so much done, it was a really great productive day! First I need to show you a cute little Koala that was just released by Treehouse stamps. I don’t have any koala stamps, so this was a great addition to my collection. And he’s just so cute hanging out on the tree, just begging for a hug!

kenny-koala

Isn’t he cute? I added the chipboard flower with the edges inked in distress inks, I just thought it worked with the feel of the card. The girls have been watching ‘The Lion King’ so I was in a really neutral mood. Yes, I know “The lion king” is in Africa and koala’s are from Australia……outback/desert……their hot!

I’ll be back in a flash with a card for Jen’s sketch for you to try!

Stamps: Make a difference: Treehouse stamps

Ink: antique linen, tea stain distress inks

Brainwave Wednesday- Bloom

May 6th, 2008

Ashley has been having great challenges every Wednesday called ‘Brainwave Wednesday’. Each week is different, it may be a sketch challenge, color challenge or as this week turned out an inspiration challenge.

So here’s the deal with this card, lol. I used some Daisy D’s rub-on tape on the edges. This is SUPER COOL stuff……….however…….it must go on paper evenly. So I learned the hard way on this and I’m saving you the trouble. I thought I would be all cool by layering it on the Boxer DSP and my navy base. But NOOOOOOOOOO, this rub-on tape wasn’t going to play that game with me. So let’s all just ignore the little oopsies with that shall we? Ok…..onto the card:

bloom

Oh, and if you look at my dahlia and the image on the THS website you’ll notice that they are a wee bit different. I was coloring the flower and started to worry that I had colored too many petals and didn’t leave enough leaves so I drew a couple extra at the bottom. No buggy biggy, I just don’t want Ashley or Kristin to wonder why I changed their stamp. Another oopsie…….

Ok, now run on over to Ashleys blog and try out the inspiration challenge! Be sure to leave a comment and let me know if you do it with a link!

Supplies:

Stamps: Delightful Dahlia and Elegant Sentiments by Treehouse stamps
CS: Navy, green-SU  PTI white   Boxer by Basic Grey from Jacksonbelle Embellishments
Ink: adirondack black, tea stain and antique linen distress inks
Accessories: Nesties, copics, liquid pearls, Daisy D’s rub on tape from Jacksonbelle, hydrangea dew drops

So much to do and finally some time to do it all!

April 28th, 2008

I have had an exhausting and looooooooooooong craft day! This is week 2 of Sean’s vacation and we are each taking a couple days to get things done for ourselves. Today I worked on finishing my ATC’s for the MFT swap. And then after that I got to working on some samples from the latest releases from Treehouse Stamps

The first one is from the new set called My Hero:

Hero

The layout started as Jen’s SFYTT, but somewhere along the way I swapped the paper placement and now it’s just inspired by her sketch, lol. I really tried to give the dudes some tan, sun kissed skin. Since I’m so pale you can practically see through me I had a hard time adding tan tones and worried it just looked like they had a weird skin condition. I hope they dont look sick, just tan, lol!

The next two samples are using the Elegant Sentiments :

peace-and-hope

happiness-touch-your-life

I have so much more to show, I was on a crafting ROLL today I tell you! Tomorrow I have to take Audrey to her speech and OT and then it’s a relaxing day at home. We just got the new Mario Kart for the Wii and it’s soooooooooooo fun! Ava really loves to play it and surprisingly she’s not too shabby!

Happy Monday everyone!

Busy as a bee…..

April 21st, 2008

That’s me! I have been so busy these past few days getting ready for different stamp releases and working on projects, just buzz, buzz, buzzing along! My very special project will be ready tomorrow featuring the ‘Hip hop accessories’ from Gina K…….SO excited to have it finished! But tonight I have 2 cards to share featuring an upcoming release from Treehouse stamps called “Home Grown”:

buzz

What’s the buzz? Such a cute little bee and flower! I just had to give the bee some sparkly wings and a little trail of sparkle dust, like magic pollen! This reminds me of my friend Bee, I might have to surprise her with a card sometime using this set!

crow

This set has a primitive feel to it, for me at least, lol! So when I started to watercolor this bird I decided I wanted it to look like a rustic painting you might find in an old abandoned Oklahoma farm house, where everything is weathered and dusty. The ‘Honey Pie’ cosmo cricket paper came in handy with this sheet of cross stitch pattern paper.

And now I am off to watch ‘Gossip Girl’, I’m so glad it is back! Happy Monday!

A fun challenge and brand new stamps!

March 20th, 2008

Todays limited supply challenge on SCS is to use the same stamps, same DSP and any tools and embellishments but make 2 or more different cards. It really doesn’t seem that limited to me because I could pull out any punches, nesties, ribbons, brads, etc and all of those make such a difference on a card. But it was also so much fun, so I just HAD to play along.

prehistoric-hi

This is a new set from Treehouse stamps called “Prehistoric Pals” that was just released today! It is so super cute and it filled a void in my stamp supply for dinosaurs!

I wanted to add some dimension with the volcano’s so I cut them out but now I think they look icky so I’ll scratch that next time I do a card like that. I do like my little dew drops on the card for extra chunks of lava!

Alright, off to bed I’m starting to get sleepy. I have my usual Friday madness coming up with back to back appointments so I’ll be really happy when tomorrow evening rolls around.

TGIF!

Seriously, the last one tonight!

March 9th, 2008

Here is the last of my stamp-a-thon from today! And then if you want to see anything else, you’ll just have to wait a teensy bit.

I really wanted to make a card with the new set from Treehouse stamps called “Simply organic”. Because I love the branch image in it, like flowers I feel like I can never have enough branches! But oddly enough, I didn’t choose the branch to use tonight.

I stamped the flower by inking it up with my markers, rose red and artichoke and then went over the image once it was stamped with my aqua painter. This softened the look and just enough. Then I used a bit of magenta stickles to give it a little sparkle.

Simple-pleasures

And yes, again I sanded on the cardstock behind my sentiment. I will be putting the sanding blocks on the other side of my craft room tomorrow so I won’t be tempted to use them anymore.

Now I have to go. Sean got us some new cell phones and we are trying to play with them and figure it out. We both got a new blackjack, his is black and I got the swanky red! But I have to pimp it out with some new graphics and ring tones! I already got my “Paper planes” by MIA and “Close to me” by The Cure. I have to have at least 1 Cure song!

Stamps: Simply organic-Treehouse stamps
Ink: artichoke, rose red and artichoke SU markers, palette noir, distress ink antique linen
CS: artichoke, vanilla-SU  white-papertrey
Accessories: rose and artichoke eyelets, magenta stickles, aqua painter, sanding block

Little girl heart

March 9th, 2008

Hi! Long time no blog…….

I finally feel like I am getting better from that nasty flu! Ava still has a cough every now and then and Audrey’s nose is still a little runny, but other than that they are back to their normal energy and moods! I still have a sinus thing and Sean’s cough is still around, but today I actually feel a lot better than yesterday. So I am really looking forward to waking up tomorrow and feeling even better!

My flu kind of put a hold on lots of things, like the release of Treehouse stamps newest images! I also missed the party, but my inbox was filled with lots of emails so I can tell that everyone had a great time!

So here is a sneak peek at a new set that will be released later this month from Treehouse stamps called “Quiet moments”:

Fishing-girl

Isn’t she CUTE?!?!?!? I was so excited when I saw her! And oddly, not because she is fishing but just because she is so different than other little girl images. I just thought she was too sweet, and so was the sentiment.

If I’m telling the truth…….I can’t stand fishing or fish. It’s a very odd thing. Goldfish and other cold water fish, or really ugly salt water fish can actually make me puke, just by looking at them! I can stomache, lobsters, crabs, shark and dolphins, or seahorses. But almost everything other fish or sea creature (octopus…..eeeeeeeew!) make me gag. When Sean and I watch survivor and they throw a fish in there I always turn and close my eyes and have him tell me when it’s over! I don’t know why fish make me so violently ill, but fish tanks give me the heebie geebies!

And sense I’m fessing up about phobias, this image also gives me the willies because that girl is STANDING BAREFOOT IN THE GRASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I was a baby my mom would sit me on the lawn and she told me I would SCREAM and cry until they moved me off the grass! And  my whole life, I have avoided walking in the grass in sandals because the grass blades can get to my skin. And I do NOT picnic just sitting on plain old grass, HECK NO!!!! It has to be a blanket with a waterproof side on the bottom. Just thinking about all the bugs and critters and ickyness that is in the grass PLUS just the way it feels. I can’t tell you how many people have made fun of me because of this.

But I really do like this girl! I imagine she is just pretending to fish. Not catching anything, just playing. And I can, because it’s my stamp and my card!

Ashley has a sneak peek of the boy in this set and you can find that at her blog here!

I’ll be back in a quick second with some new Gina K!

A tree from treehouse!

March 2nd, 2008

One of the new stamps that Treehouse stamps is releasing on March 7th is a nature set that includes this lovely tree.

tree

This is such a fun image to color! There is so much open space for blending and shading. It was so nice to just sit and color and play today.

The girls have been sick since Wednesday and I finally started to feel really sick yesterday. It’s been a weekend of coughing, runny noses and staying in pajamas. Fun times!

I have some more sneak peeks to share tomorrow from My favorite things! So be sure to stop back and say hi!

Stamps: Treehouse stamps
CS: close to cocoa, creamy caramel, white DP-beacon hill
Accessories: copics, green ribbon, word window punch, sponge, dimensionals

Sneak peek’s in the house!

February 26th, 2008

The past 2 days have been looooooooong. So long that I felt like today was Friday! That’s not good. So I was very pleased that I had some energy tonight to tackle the sketch challenge on SCS!

I have mentioned before that Treehouse stamps are having a HUGE release on March 7th.  And today I have some sneak peeks to show you!

Happy-cupcake-day!

Who doesn’t love a cupcake? Seriously…… who? And if you say you don’t then I have to guess you’ve never had a REALLY good cupcake! Sean doesn’t like cake, or most cupcakes but he likes mine. Of course I have a book devoted to 50 different cupcake recipes, so the chances are I can whip up some that you would like. Ok enough cupcake talk…….it’s a CUTE stamp!

And for a completely different look:

tulips

Do you see that on my card? It’s sewing!!! I had mentioned about a week ago that my Mom has given me her sewing machine, but you haven’t seen anything until today. Well, my first maiden voyage sewing on a card………..I broke the needle! It jammed in the presser foot and bent! So, I had to wait until a new needle could be put in. And I’m happy to say that I did NOT break anything tonight! Yippee!!!

I love tulips, and they are Ava’s FAVORITE flower. We have a huge tulip festival here in Washington every March-April. Just fields and fields of every color and every variety of tulips. And they have tractor rides and kite flying as well. You get some really amazing pictures there. We have taken the girls each year since Ava was born, and she will talk about it for months after! Plus you can buy bunches of tulips for $5! It’s such an awesome deal, the house is filled with fresh flowers for weeks. I’m really looking forward to going, I’ll have to be sure to post some pictures. (all our old pictures are “stuck” on another computer……..sad. Fix it Sean, fix it!)

Alrighty, that’s it for me tonight. I have my training at the gym tomorrow morning and in the afternoon we have Ava’s 4 year checkup at the Dr.’s. And I also get to tell her we aren’t coming back, so wish me luck! I’m not looking forward to telling her and I’m hoping I don’t cry or get mad. (really, I’m angry but it won’t do any good to yell at her although I would LOVE to.)

Happy stamping!
